4th year project 2023 Tallinn, Estonia Collaborators: Martin Sepp, Mikael Ristmets
As part of the Street Studio, my team worked on one of Tallinn’s largest and most complex arterial junctions – the Kristiine intersection. We replaced the complex five-way intersection with a roundabout, reduced the number of traffic lanes, and were thereby able to add new buildings. In addition to designing a new network of bike paths, we also planned a tram line from the city center to Mustamäe that passes through our project area, including a tram stop for it.
Below: Current situation – 11 lanes of traffic, heat islands, 70m of asphalt, 0 bicycle infrastructure, long traffic jams: Tallinn’s most accident-prone intersection.
